Handmade Dog Collar!

We have a pretty little pouch at home, named Scout, that we love to death. She is really sweet, really well behaved and fits really well into our family....except, she make so much noise!

It's not her, exactly, it is the tags that dangle from her collar. She is almost 3 now but sometimes she bolts over to the neighbors to visit her husband, Cooper. And I'm always afraid that she will just keep going. She is micro chipped but she always has her collar on with our number on the tag.

Recently I was speaking with a friend of mine who has a sewing business and asked her if she has ever embroidered dog collars. She told me she has thought about it but had never done it...then, her dog got skunked! There is no better reason to try making a dog collar then your dog being stinky.

I was so excited when she messaged me to let me know that she is now making dog collars! Below is the one she made for Scout. I got to pick the color of the collar and the stitching! Not only does it have her name on it but it also has our phone number, so if she does get lost, it will be easy for people to get in touch with us. I am so happy with it.

If you want your own collar for your dog, get in touch with Christine! Not only does she make great dog stuff she also makes Sensory Gear for special need kids and adults. Find her website here and her Facebook page here.

Bikini Weather!

It is warm in Ontario, really really warm! And while I don't wear a bikini myself, some of my beautiful friends love them. I'm an avid crochet (if you haven't noticed) and  so I've been asked to make bikini tops for my girlfriends.

There are many many patterns on line if you are interested in making your own. I am thinking of selling them....would you sport a crochet bikini top?

Above is the finished product. Below is the triangle in progress!

Making Cloth Pad!

I have been using alternative menstrual products for 15 years and love them. Mostly I use a cup but sometimes I'm lazy and just want to use pads. Sometimes I buy pads but I don't like just throwing them away so I joined a group on Facebook for those who want to sew their own pads.

Above is my first attempt. I am not a wings girl, so I made them thin and straight to use with my cup or on light days. I will be making more and I will be trying new things but for I am happy with them!

They were also super cheap to make! I used an old pillow case and cut up some old prefolds for the inside. Next time I will buy some water proof fabric for a longer wear pad.

What crafty things are you up to these days?

Dog treats!

Our pretty little pooch has some food sensitivities so I've been making her treats for awhile. She loves them and they are super cheap to make.

Some times I cut them in fancy dog bine shapes but not tonight...tonight I was pressed for time and just used a pizza cutter to cut them into ugly little squares. Ugly yes but very tasty!

If you want to make then yourself find the recipe Here (this time I used banana instead pumpkin)

Locally Roasted Coffee...yummy!

When I say all things handmade, I really mean all things handmade! Not just crafts and such but also the things that I put in and on my body. Coffee is one of the things I cannot live without these days and I'm lucky to be able to access locally roasted organic fair trade coffee from The Well!

Have you been to The Well? Located in downtown Alliston (81 Victoria St W, to be exact) The Well is a wonderful little coffee shop that serves pour over coffee, baked goods and light lunches. It is super cute, family friendly and an all around good place to spend your time.

Recently the managers spend 4 months in Nicaragua and while they were there they visited one of the farms that these beans are grown. The green beans are shipped to Alliston and John (the shop manager) lovingly roasts the coffee in half pound batches. It doesn't get much better then that.  John loves coffee and he loves talking about coffee so head over to The Well and try the labour of his love!
